St. Cyprian Church is fortunate to have a dedicated staff of experienced professionals who, under the leadership of Pastor William J. Promesso, guide the many ministries offered here.

             In keeping with the spirit of Vatican II, our parish utilizes lay ministry to the fullest.  These short biographies will acquaint you with the professional staff who serve you and this parish.  Please feel free to contact the staff with questions or concerns.

PROMESSO, WILLIAM; (Staff)17Rev. Dr. William Promesso joined St. Cyprian Parish in July 2004.  He was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Detroit in 1989.  Fr. Bill holds a B.S. in Marketing Management from The University of Detroit, two Master’s degrees (M.Div. & M.T.S.) in theology from St. John’s Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, MI and a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching (D.Min.) degree from the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, MO. 
 
Post-doctoral work includes a three-month Intensive Pastoral Spanish Program at the Mexican American Catholic College in San Antonio in 2008, and national certification in 2011 in Catholic Health Care Ethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia.

MAMIENSKI, ANNE; (Staff)42Sr. Anne Mamienski, IHM,joined St. Cyprian parish in September of 2014 as our Pastoral Associate.  She lived and worked with the Merion Mercy Sisters as part of a then experimental group in the 1980s.  On September 8, 1985 she entered the Sister Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe, Michigan. 

Sr. Anne holds a BA in religious studies and her first MA is in Pastoral Ministry and Theology; both degrees are from LaSalle University in Philadelphia.  She also holds a Masters in Holistic Health from the School of Natural Healing in Utah.  Additionally Sr. Anne holds certification in Youth Ministry from the National Youth Ministry Foundation and certification in Bereavement Ministry form Biscayne College in Miami.

nicolaDeacon Jim Nicola, Pastoral Ministry, joined St. Cyprian Staff in October of 2015. He was ordained to the permanent diaconate on Saturday, October 1 after a four-year program of study and formation.  He is a small business owner and has worked as a builder specializing in home improvement for 37 years.

Deacon Jim will be developing a new marriage enrichment program, preaching at Masses, and serving in other pastoral areas.

IMG_1102Mr.Jesse Calcat, Director of Worship & Music Ministries, joined St. Cyprian Staff in July of 2015.  Jesse holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Oakland University, majoring in viola and piano performance and minoring in East Asian Studies, a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Orchestral Studies (Viola) from Wayne State University, and a Master’s of Music in Cello Performance from Bowling Green State University.  Jesse served as Accompanist and Interim Music Director at St. Cyprian during 2008 and 2009, and served as organist for Sacred Heart Church of New Bavaria, Ohio and St. Mary’s Church of Holgate, Ohio in 2014 and 2015.

Outside of church musical activities, Jesse is an active performer and teacher of classical violin, viola, cello, piano, as well as Irish and Scottish fiddle, on which he performs regularly with a Detroit-area Celtic band.

SUTOWSKI-SHURTZ, STACEY; (Staff)71

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Stacey Sutowski-Shurtz rejoined the staff of St. Cyprian in 2008 as the Director of Elementary Catechesis and Youth Ministry. She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Wayne State University.  She is a certified catechist through the Archdiocese of Detroit and will be pursuing her masters with a concentration in Spirituality and Theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

Prior to this new position, Stacey held the position of 7th/8th grade religion teacher at All Saints Catholic School in Canton, MI.  She was the 7th/8th grade Religion, History and Reading teacher at St. Cyprian Parish School from 1998 – 2007, and the 6th grade Religion and Social Studies teacher at Christ the Good Shepherd Elementary School in Lincoln Park.

Mrs. Kim Switzer is our Director of Christian Service & Outreach Ministries

Kim attended Wayne State University, studying Business and Liberal Arts. She has received certifications by the Archdiocese of Detroit as a Ministerial Core Christian Service Coordinator, and as a Catechist. She served as the Education Representative to the Parish Council for 4 years, and just completed her term as Chair of the Parish Council in June 2016. Kim has been the Youth Group Assistant for several years, and has been involved with Catechist and Sacramental preparation for 11 years.

Kim has also been our Welcome Coordinator since 2015. She will continue in this role as well as Christian Service & Outreach ministries.

Mrs. Denise Traeder, our Director of Finance & Administration, joined the staff of St. Cyprian in 1994. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Michigan – Dearborn, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration-Logistics from Wayne State University.  Additionally, she is a professional member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and Chair of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) for the City of Woodhaven.  Mrs. Traeder has over twenty-five years of experience in finance and administration.
