worshipmusicAltar Assistants serve as the coordinator for liturgical ministers at weekend Liturgies.  In this role, the Altar Assistant is responsible for overseeing the other liturgical ministers and assisting the presider in preparation and service of the Holy Eucharist. Parishioners who have served as Communion Ministers are invited to share in this ministry.

Altar Servers directly assist the priest, prepare, and clean up the altar. Server must have made their first communion (preferably 5th grade and above), can follow instruction and be attentive to the needs of the priest during Mass.

Greeters provide the “Welcome to St. Cyprian, where all are welcome in God’s house” experience for all who walk through the doors of our parish during the weekend.  Greeters may also hand out song books, distribute the Connection and share their faith with a warm greeting and smile.  This ministry is open to all parishioners.

Ushers ensure that all have been properly welcomed, guide them into the sanctuary and provide any service a parishioner or guest may need.  Ushers also take the collection, assist in the Communion Procession and tidy up the worship space for the next liturgy.

Lectors proclaim the Word of God with beauty and joy in a clear and compelling manner.  Sharing the Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful) and reading the parish announcements are also the responsibility of the Lector.  Parishioners 16 years and older with a desire to share God’s word with the worshipping assembly are invited to serve in this ministry.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion serve alongside the Ordinary Minister (the ordained clergy) to distribute the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ to the faithful at our weekend liturgies, weekday Mass, funerals, weddings and may take Holy Communion to the sick.

The Sacristan serves by preparing the altar for the celebration of Mass. This includes the books, the sacred vessels and the bread and wine.  Sacristans also cleanse the sacred vessels after the Mass has concluded.  Parishioners who have served as Communion Ministers are invited to share in this ministry.

Funeral Ministry is an opportunity to serve the family and friends of those who have entered eternal life at our parish funeral liturgies.  Ministers serve as greeters, Communion Minister, sacristans and occasionally as lectors.

Wedding Ministry is an opportunity to serve at parish wedding liturgies.  Ministers assist at rehearsals and on the day of the wedding as sacristan, greeter, Communion Minister and other needs of the wedding party.

The Altar Linen Team cleans and maintains the linens used for our parish liturgies including the corporals, purificators and hand towels.  This ministry takes place at home on a rotating basis.

Church Keepers maintain our worship space on a weekly basis. From dusting and vacuuming to mopping and waxing, this ministry is open to parishioners with an eye for cleanliness and a heart for service.

The Art & Environment Team is tasked with creating an environment that draws the faithful more fully into prayer.  This is done through the use of banners, draperies, live flowers and plants.  The color changes are based on the liturgical seasons such as Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter.  If you have an eye for color, love of beauty and interest in art; this ministry is your calling.
